There is no US standard for outdoor kitchen cabinets. So the specification is the product.
ANSI/KCMA A161.1 is the only recognized American cabinet standard and its scope is expressly indoor kitchen and vanity cabinets. It contains no weathering, no ultraviolet, no freeze thaw and no corrosion provision. That means the only thing standing between you and a cabinet that fails in three Nebraska winters is the specification the seller chose to write.
1. Ask where the 430 is hiding
Every supplier in this category says "304 stainless." In practice 430 grade is routinely used for carcasses, backs and internal panels while 304 goes on the visible doors and drawer fronts. 430 is magnetic, it is cheaper, and it rusts.
Bring a magnet to any showroom. 304 is non magnetic. 430 sticks. Test the carcass, the back panel and the door separately, because they are frequently not the same steel. Our cabinets are 304 throughout, and we will hand you the magnet.
2. Ask which powder coat
"Powder coated" means nothing on its own. The specification that matters is AAMA 2603, 2604 or 2605. 2603 is an interior and light commercial polyester that chalks and fades outdoors within a couple of years. 2604 is the realistic minimum for an outdoor kitchen. 2605 is a 70 percent PVDF resin and it is rare in this category.
Ask for the coating brand and product code, expect AkzoNobel Interpon, Tiger Drylac or Jotun, and ask whether the line is in house or subcontracted. Our powder coated components are specified to AAMA 2604 minimum.
Why stainless and not aluminum
The same reason our windows are vinyl and our fences are steel. The United States antidumping order on aluminum extrusions from China runs at roughly 86 percent China wide plus countervailing duty, and it reaches aluminum cabinet frames and carcasses directly. Worse, a flat packed aluminum cabinet is the textbook example of a covered "finished goods kit", which is why several suppliers in this category who ship flat pack are sitting on a problem they may not have priced. Stainless steel is outside that order entirely. Our cabinets also ship fully assembled, doors hung and hardware fitted, not as a box of parts.

What we do not sell you, and why
Grills, side burners and refrigerators. We sell the cabinet that houses them, not the appliance. Any gas or electrical appliance in an outdoor kitchen needs a real listing, ANSI Z21 series, CSA, UL or ETL, and it needs documented clearance to combustibles. Selling a cabinet as grill ready when it was never tested for the appliance going into it is the single largest liability in this category, and it is one a lot of sellers are quietly carrying.

Building for freeze thaw, not for a catalogue photo
Drain the water lines
Omaha's frost line is 42 inches and the winter design temperature is negative 5 degrees. Any sink module needs a shut off inside the conditioned envelope and a way to blow the line out. We specify it because a split line under a stainless cabinet is a spring surprise.
Doors need real gaskets
Wind driven rain and blowing snow are what actually destroy outdoor cabinetry, not sunshine. Gasketed doors and a sloped cabinet top matter more here than they do in Arizona.
Countertops move
Porcelain and sintered stone handle freeze thaw well. Natural stone with open porosity does not, and granite that spends a Nebraska winter absorbing water will spall. We steer you toward the material that survives rather than the one with the best showroom slab.
